Wednesday 22nd October is the last day of term. We come back on Monday 3rd November. Have a lovely Autumn break!
Commendation from the Government We were delighted to have another letter from the Government this week, commending us on the results of our Year 1 Phonics Screening in June 2014. We are placed in the top 2% of the country and Nick Gibb MP, Minister of State for School Reform, has congratulated us on this achievement and offered us his thanks. Last year, you may remember, we were sent a similar letter congratulating us on being in the top 1% of the country for our KS2 SATS. It is a great tribute to our teachers, TAs and children that we have outstanding teaching and learning in every classroom – and, with our tremendously supportive governors and families, achieve outstanding results in every year group. Mr Gibb’s letter is available to read by clicking on the link at the bottom of this newsletter.
Photographs We have had to change the date for the family photos as Mr Gyllenspetz will be supporting a Maths Subject Leaders’ meeting on Monday. We will, instead, have the family photos on Tuesday 21st October at lunchtime (12.00pm), if you wish to bring younger siblings along.
Residential Trips Thank you to all parents who came to the meetings about the residential trips. If you have any other questions or concerns, please come and talk to us. These trips are always hugely popular and we love to see how children grow in their understanding of independence, courage, resilience and teamwork as they have fun with biking, fencing, canoeing, climbing, caving and much more.
Poetry Competition Thank you for helping your children to learn their poems. We have an independent judge from Lavington School coming in on Wednesday to judge the finals – always an exciting event! The winner will perform their poem at Sharing Assembly on Friday 7th November. Whether your child wins or not, we hope they have enjoyed learning their poem and will begin to value having some wonderful words memorised – they add richness to all sorts of experiences.
Don’t forget Film Night tonight! Arrive from 5pm and collect at 7.15pm promptly. Great fun for all the children -bring a small bean bag and a teddy!
We need some help – is there anyone out there who would like to be our poster champion and help us produce the posters for our events!? Catch one of us in the playground, leave a note on our Facebook page (Holy Trinity (Great Cheverell) PFA) or drop Gemma an email on firstname.lastname@example.org
**Calling all parents who make things, sell things or are generally are crafty in their spare time would you like a stall at our XMAS FAIR on the 5th December? ** Please register your interest by email/Facebook/playground or note!
The next Textile recycling will be 3rd & 4th November straight after the half term.
We welcome and value your opinion. If you have any comments or suggestions, please contact the Head teacher or Chair of Governors.
