Dear Parents

Campout! As you read this, the Year 3 and Year 4 children will be preparing to spend the night under canvas on the school field! We are hugely grateful to Mrs Goddard, Mrs Jones, Mrs Hayward and Mrs Edwards and their partners who have volunteered to organise and accompany this event. It is an enormous undertaking to organise an event like this, and a huge responsibility, especially in Covid times where we also have to maintain strict Bubbles, but they have accepted the challenge and have planned a wonderful experience for the children, with adventure activities being brought on site, a barbecue and lots of games and fun. Please be prompt picking up your children on Saturday morning at 10.30am – children and staff will be tired and will need to get home!

Silbury Class Restaurant We are very proud of the children in Silbury class who planned, rehearsed and prepared for this restaurant experience, inviting their parents to attend outdoors, at widely spaced tables and presenting delicious Mexican food for their lunch. All the food was prepared by the children themselves, under the watchful eye of Mrs Heath. Children were chefs, waiters and welcomers. Our thanks go to Mr Amor, Mrs Heath and Mrs Andrew who have so worked hard to ensure that this event could take place in this very unusual year, with the Covid restrictions, and to the parents who attended and embraced the opportunity.

Parent/Teacher Meetings Thank you to all our parents who came to the Parent/Teacher meetings – we had almost 100% take up of this invitation, even though the meetings were outside (and for some, in the pouring rain!).  Your commitment to your children’s education is hugely valued as we strive to provide an outstanding experience for them here at Holy Trinity.

Lataca As of September 1st 2021, all KS2 school meals provided by Lataca will go up slightly in price, and be £2.30. Of course, KS1 meals will still come at no cost to parents. If you want your child to have school meals, please order a week in advance.

New Rules for Covid From Monday 19th July, schools will no longer carry out routine contact tracing. From this point onwards, close contacts will be identified and contacted by NHS Test and Trace.

  • Until 16th August, anyone identified by NHS Test and Trace must self-isolate for 10 days from the date of last contact with the positive case, and not attend school. They should also take a PCR test. They must continue to self-isolate for the full period even if the test is negative.
  • From 16th August, in line with fully vaccinated adults, children identified as close contacts will not need to isolate and instead will be advised to take a PCR test. Individuals identified as close contacts will not need to self-isolate while they are awaiting the results of their test.
  • From 2nd September return to school: At this stage (though this might change over the summer holidays if the situation becomes unstable), we are expecting that we will no longer have to maintain children in their Bubbles and we will be able to resume our usual routines in classrooms and within the school timetable, with Collective Worship including everyone gathered together in the hall, lunch being taken in the dining areas all together, children accessing all parts of the field and playground and mixing freely with each other. Please be aware that this might change before we return in September, and we will email/text parents to let you know in advance if we need to make adjustments to this protocol.
  • Drop off and Pick up in the new term: Stonehenge and White Horse classes will be dropped between 8.30am and 8.40am and picked up at 2.50pm. Stonehenge will use the pedestrian gate and White Horse will use the vehicular gate on the layby. Sarum, Avebury and Silbury classes will be dropped off between 8.40am and 8.50am and will be picked up at 3.00pm promptly. Sarum and Avebury will use the pedestrian gate and Silbury will use the vehicular gate on the layby.
  • We ask that parents leave the area promptly after dropping off or picking up their children so that there is car parking available for the next tranche of parents to pick up or drop off their children. This will help to ensure our children are safe from traffic accidents due to congestion outside the school.

If your child shows ANY SIGN of Covid infection, they (and any siblings) must not come into school – this is really important! Any temperature, cough or change to sense of taste or smell requires a test and isolation. Keep your child at home if anyone in your house has Covid (10 day isolation), or Covid symptoms until a negative PCR test has been returned. No Lateral Flow Tests to be used on primary school children.

Recorder Lessons Mrs Broomfield is able to offer lessons to your child who will be starting year 2 in September. Lessons take place on a Friday during the school day. If you would like your child to have lessons in September please complete the attached form and return it to by the 16th August.

Last day of term Thursday 22nd July is the last day of term. Everyone from Year 1 – Year 6 is back to school on Thursday 2nd September. Foundation Stage children start with their half days on Monday 6th September.

Salisbury Museum  Please have a look at the attached poster from Salisbury Museum on which details are given of their very exciting Discovery Days Summer 2021. These are wonderful, interactive, fun events for children and adults and make brilliant family days out through the summer holidays. Themes include:  Fashion, building, art, cooking and archaeology.

All Discovery day activities 10am – 4pm     No booking required.
Cost: Normal admission charges apply

Message from Maxine Knox (PFA Chair)
As we look to the end of the academic year, it feels like a good time to reflect on the activities we have been involved with. It has been an unusual year where we have had to cancel most of our events and look to do things a bit differently. This year the amount of people involved with the PFA has increased significantly and this has been a fantastic thing for helping more parents and friends of the school feel involved.

We have organised Christmas cards, Christmas parties in “bubbles,” Christmas jumper day, non- uniform day, “follow new rules” day, we have held uniform sales and a sweet sale, our first Facebook based fundraiser. We have had group of parents set up a new recycling scheme, funded a circus skills workshop for all the children and supported events to welcome new parents to the school.

We will be going into next year with a keen and dedicated committee who have lots of great ideas as we plan to be able to get “back to normal” in some way. You are always very welcome to get involved in any way you can.

Thank you to everyone who has volunteered their time this year; it is very much appreciated.

The PFA, on behalf of the parents and carers of the school would also like to send a big “thank you” to all the staff at school who we know have worked extremely hard this year to help our children to learn and thrive.

Finally, we all wish Mrs Henning well and send her our good wishes for retirement. Thank you Mrs Henning for the dedication you have shown to our children and the school.
