Circus skills We are very grateful to our wonderful PFA, under the leadership of Mrs Knox, who funded the day of circus skills on Tuesday for our children. What fun they had! They were given the chance to practise their skills in throwing, catching, balancing and coordination as they tried out various circus skills on offer. There was a low rope, juggling, plate spinning, hula hooping, and many other amazing activities to enjoy. As ever, the children were beautifully behaved and tried their best with everything that was presented to them. We are always very proud of them.
PFA We would like to take this chance to thank this year’s PFA committee and all the PFA members for the tremendous work they have done this year, under the most trying of conditions through the Covid pandemic. As well as raising funds for, and helping to manage, our children’s enrichment activities, their role in welcoming new families into our school is hugely appreciated. We are very grateful for the great contribution the PFA make to the outstanding education of our children.
We would also like to welcome Mrs Ridd and her new team who will be taking over the PFA leadership roles from September. Mrs Ridd has already had a meeting with our new headteacher, Mrs Woodman, and there are lots of wonderful plans in the pipeline for next year. Please do come forward to volunteer your services to the PFA – as well as providing a service to our children, this is a great way to make new friends and become even more a part of our warm school community.
Booking for Parent/Teacher Meetings We will be opening the booking system for our Parent/Teacher meetings on Monday 28th June at 9.00am. Please do log in and book your slot to see your child’s teacher using the booking platform called “Parents Evening Systems”. The link for this booking system is https://holytrinityacademy.schoolcloud.co.uk/
The meetings will be held after school on Monday 12th July and Wednesday 14th July. Please do NOT bring children with you. The meetings will be held outdoors and we will be limiting numbers of people on site in order to comply with Covid restrictions and our own risk assessments. All adults on site must maintain social distancing. Please do not come at all if you have any Covid symptoms. We do not want to risk anyone’s health at this stage.
Canvassing children Our recent canvassing of children showed that 96% of children enjoy coming to school, 96% have friends in school that they enjoy spending time with, and 99% agree that they learn a lot at school. Only 88% agreed that they enjoy reading. We would love to see this percentage rise into the 90s as well. Please do encourage your child to read for pleasure – whether this is magazines and comics, blogs, songs, instructions for Lego models, or complete chapter books. We want our children to value reading and to read for fun and interest. Children who enjoy reading do better not only in literacy but, research shows, do better in maths and other subjects at GCSE as well.
Please do read to your children, right up into their teens. It is always fun to have a family book on the go. Children who hear a good reader reading to them, find it easier to write well because they instinctively understand what good sentences sound like. You are never too old to be read to!
A very good website, that we use to help us choose books of the appropriate level and genre for our children, is www.lovereading4kids.co.uk. You may find this useful as you choose books for your child.
Please Bring Books Back! If you have school library books at home, please do bring them back in so that other children can borrow them. We would be very grateful if you could check through your child’s bookcase and make sure all have been returned before the summer holidays.
Covid The following data have been published by Wiltshire and make for stark reading, showing the rapid increase in Covid cases within schools. We have to be even more on our guard. Each one of us has a part to play in keeping our children and our staff safe. So far, our strict adherence to the measures has kept our school safe but we cannot let our guard down yet.
confirmed positive cases in Wiltshire schools:
30/05 – 05/06 – 2
06/06 – 12/06 – 26
13/06 – 19/06 – 37
20/06 – 24/06 – 56
If your child shows ANY SIGN of Covid infection, they (and any siblings) must not come into school – this is really important! Any temperature, cough or change to sense of taste or smell requires a test and isolation. Keep your child at home if anyone in your house has Covid (10 day isolation), or Covid symptoms until a negative PCR test has been returned. No Lateral Flow Tests to be used on primary school children.

Thank you to all the parents who have been supporting us this year and helping us to adapt to new circumstances. Due to your generosity the PFA were able to fund circus skills workshops for all the children at school this week.
Welcome to new parents
The PFA are also working behind the scenes to welcome the families who will be joining Holy Trinity in September. Many thanks to the volunteers who have been involved with this.
Of course this year, Sports Day/Week will be a little different and the PFA and parents will not be on-site for the event. We are pleased to say that we are still providing biscuits for the children to enjoy after their races and hope they have a fantastic time.
Thank you also to the parents who have organised to collect recycling in order to raise funds for charity. Weather permitting they will be outside school on 22nd June and the 6th and 20th July. Please see your WhatsApp group or our Facebook page for more information.
