Dear Parents
Key stage 2 SATS Once again, we are delighted with the outcomes of all our children in Year 6 who have achieved outstandingly well. These children sat externally set and marked tests for reading, SPAG and maths, and the Local Authority came to our school this year to check our writing judgements were secure. Below is a table showing the outcomes of our school compared with those of children nationally. Further data and analyses will be made available as they are published.

As ever, we emphasise that this is just a snapshot of a narrow area of the curriculum and, whilst we are delighted with it, it is very important to note that our children achieve so much more than this, in all areas of the curriculum. Their spiritual, moral, social and cultural outcomes are also outstanding, they are fine young people and their talents and gifts add richness across a huge variety of areas.
Sports Day Thank you to all our wonderful children who showed such great aspiration and compassion as they strove to do their best and to make sure everyone had a good experience. The Year 6 children were amazing as they cared for the younger children and made sure equipment was ready as it was needed. Blue team won the Sports Day trophy, but all the teams won various trophies for events at sports day and throughout the year, including the swimming gala, pancake races, intraschool rounders tournaments and so on. Thanks also to our parents and grandparents who came along to support the children so strongly. And a huge thank you to Mr Amor, whose outstanding organisation ensures a smooth, exciting and fast-paced event each year, and to his team of staff who work so hard to ensure that sports day is fun for all.
School Milk If you wish your child to have milk at break time from September, please register at www.coolmilk.com or for telephone enquiries call 0844 8542913.
Avebury Class Exhibition Parents and carers enjoyed a wonderful afternoon, looking at art and design projects completed by their children and having WW2 themed afternoon tea and cake! Thanks to Mr Gyllenspetz and Mrs Heath who worked so hard to ensure a great outcome.
Piano lessons Mr Broomfield has two available spaces for piano lessons next term. Please collect a form from the office if your child would like to start lessons.
School Eucharist A quiet moment of reflection in this busy term – the school Eucharist will take place on Wednesday 18th July at 2.00pm. There will be singing, dancing, readings and reflections. Everyone is invited to attend. This is always a lovely event.
Year 6 Leavers’ trip Year 6 children will go on their final outing as a class to a mystery destination on Friday 20th July. Please make sure that you have read the notices going home about this and send children to school with a packed lunch and the other items mentioned.
Last day of term Tuesday 24th July is the last day of term. Everyone from Year 1 – Year 6 is back to school on Tuesday 4th September. Foundation Stage children start with their half days on Thursday 6th September.
