Dear Parents

Parent Teacher meetings Please do not forget to come along to chat to your child’s teacher on either Monday 11th March or Wednesday 13th March – you will have booked your appointment.

Pilgrimage Day On Tuesday 19th March, we will be taking all the children to Edington Priory for a “Pilgrimage Day”.  Staff and volunteers from the churches and the school work together to ensure that children are given a great experience that leads to spiritual growth, whatever their faith or non-faith position. Themes around the school values of compassion, courage, aspiration and joy will be explored within the context of Easter. Singing, crafts, reflection time, discussion and drawing/writing are included in the various activities. The church provides a beautiful, tranquil space for this event and we are grateful for the welcome we are given.

Please send your child in with a packed lunch on that day, as we shall be eating at the church. Children will be back at school for most of the afternoon session. If you have been DBS checked and would like to accompany the trip, please let us know.

Bat Day Thank you for sending in money for your children to buy one of the wonderful Bat biscuits baked by the children in White Horse class to raise money for bat conservation. We had some amazing bat costumes in school on that day and lots of exciting work preparing the biscuits for sale. Over £48 was raised – a great result! Our thanks to Mrs Twentyman and Mrs Trusler who worked so hard to ensure that the children had fun with this project.

Pancake races We had a great time on Shrove Tuesday, with each team doing their best to win this event. In the end, Blue team won – well done to them and to all who took part with great sportsmanship. The points won will be added to the Sports Day total to help identify the overall winning team for the whole year. We are very grateful to the PFA who supported us so strongly with this event.

PFA Our thanks as ever to our wonderful PFA for all they do to enhance the quality and richness of education we provide for our children. Lisa Downing and her team do a really amazing job, drawing the school community together, providing great opportunities for our children and raising funds to support education here at Holy Trinity.

Charity Afternoon Each year, we give children the opportunity to raise funds for a charity of their choice. This year, the event will take place on Tuesday 2nd April 1.30pm – 2.30pm. Children who wish to run a stall must complete the application form, detailing the charity they are supporting, the event they will run, and the adult who will be supporting them with the event. All applications for a stall will be examined on Friday 15th March and we will allocate one of the twelve tables on offer to the teams who have presented the best applications.

These teams will be asked to do a two minute presentation to the whole school on their charity in advance of the Charity Afternoon. The event is only for children, except for the adults who are supporting each team. The adult supporting the team will need to help them clarify what is going to happen at the event, help them to prepare for it, run it, clear away afterwards and send the money to the charity the children have chosen. However, we expect that the majority of work will be done by the children themselves – this is part of their learning.


Collaboration Many of you will know that our school is part of a formal collaboration (not a multi-academy trust) which started about four years ago. The collaboration is called the Emmanuel Collaboration, consists of five church schools, Five Lanes CE Primary, St Thomas a Becket CE Primary in Tilshead, St Barnabas CE Primary in Market Lavington, Urchfont CE Primary and our own school. Through the collaboration we share resources, training, moderation of work to ensure high standards, expertise and much more. All our schools are stronger as a result of the collaboration and results of our aggregated data have risen each year since the inception of the collaboration. We have not given away any of our independence and have full control of our school, finances, governing body and staff – unlike the situation in a multi-academy trust.

Superstars Holiday Club This very popular club runs from Monday 8th April to Friday 12th April. You can come every day or just whenever you wish. They have over 40 different sports, fun activities and themes that the children will be taking part in. Everyone from the school is welcome as they accommodate age 4-11. If you have any more queries or would like to book on then contact SuperStars direct Call 0345 2413682. Spaces are likely to fill up fast as they can only take 30 children per day.’’

Azoomee This is a fun online learning platform for children aged 5+. There are games, learning activities and videos that have been hand picked for children. It requires a subscription but we have had parents recommend this platform highly.

PFA News

Pancake Day races: These were great fun as always! Thanks go out to our fantastic PFA volunteers on the day, who helped make this happen.

PFA Evening Meeting Many thanks to those who attended the meeting on Wednesday evening. It was a very productive meeting in which various activities and events for the next few months were discussed. The minutes of the meeting will be sent out to our mailing list. Please sign up by emailing us at if you would like to be kept informed.

Quiz Night – Friday 26th April (evening) in The Pavilion – Date & venue confirmed! Friends and family all welcome! A cheese-board supper will be provided and drinks will be available to purchase.

Social Evening – Friday 10th May – The Three Daggers brewery (underneath the Farm Shop) – Tickets will be £15 to include a drink and a buffet supper – A relaxed evening for all school parents and members of the school community to get together.

Friday Tuck Shop – Would you like to see the return of Tuck Shop? We are looking to bring this back on the last Friday of each month. As many of those who previously ran the tuck shop have now moved on, we are requesting volunteers who could help on an occasional basis. If you think you could dedicate an hour or so of your time on a Friday afternoon, once every few months, then please let us know. The children love the tuck shop and it’s a nice way to end the week (particularly if the sun is shining!!)
