Dear Parents

Take care of yourselves We ask you all to prioritise your welfare and that of your family. Go for a walk or a cycle or a run every day. Encourage your children to play outside as much as possible. Engage with other people online to stave off loneliness. Do something you enjoy every day – arts and crafts, woodwork, models and puzzles, gardening, reading, meditation, baking, music, dance, a bit of screen time, chatting to your family, eating together, games.

But please reduce the number of face to face contacts you have outside of your household as much as possible! Every contact adds to the risk of getting Covid and spreading it around the community.

Our hospitals are desperately stretched at present, and any one of us might be impacted by the negative effects of that, not just those with Covid. We must aim to reduce the spread of the virus by reducing the direct contact we have with others outside of our household.

Learning online Thank you to all of our amazing families! The learning continues and we know that you are working very hard to ensure that this happens. Even if you do a little bit of reading, writing and maths each day, your child will reap the benefit. Try to submit the assignments if you can, encouraging your child to complete them independently as far as possible. Encourage your child to be outside a lot, with lots of activity, creativity, and fun. We do not want children spending hours and hours every day looking at a screen.

If you are enjoying the online learning, then there are lots of amazing projects for you to complete in every class page. But, we emphasise again, aim to keep everyone’s wellbeing at the heart of what you are doing at home at this difficult time. That is the most important thing to prioritise.

We are very sorry that some of our recorded teaching has been disrupted this week in a few classes, due to computer breakdowns. The problems are being resolved.

Non-Screen Activities from Pobble Attached to this newsletter, please find a lovely poster of 25 great activities that your child might like to do, that do not involve a computer screen! Please encourage them to choose a few of these activities to try. Some great ideas for improving mental health.

Time for reflection On the “Whole School” page of Moodle, there is a daily reflection published. On Mondays, I shall record a short reflection from my office to post on this page. Please do encourage your children take part in this very precious time to reflect, time to be still. It is such an important part of maintaining good mental health. Next Friday, our new headteacher-elect, Mrs Woodman, hopes to post a little message to you all on that page! Look out for this.

A day at the Zoo! How about packing a picnic, and taking a day out at the zoo in your own home? Chester Zoo has a wonderful free Virtual Zoo offer, and you could help your children enjoy this by making up a picnic, building a den, creating some appropriate posters and notices, creating a mini zoo at home with their toy animals, and enjoying the fun outside in your garden if possible, or indoors if the weather is poor. Star Gazing Or perhaps, as the night falls, you could make up a flask of hot chocolate, and enjoy a planetarium experience? There is a £5 charge for this, and you need to book, but it is very good. See planetarium shows in London | Royal Museums Greenwich (

Any good ideas? If you have had any other fun days “out” in your own home, please let us know so that we can share these with other parents.

Reminder If at all possible, children (even those of critical workers) must be kept at home. School attendance is available only if there is absolutely no other option. We need to limit contacts as much as we possibly can to hold this virus at bay.

The suggestions for good mental health mirror almost precisely the Ten Habits for Good Mental Health that our children know and discuss regularly. There are useful links for agencies that can help you with various issues and problems that you may be facing as well as some very good links to enrichment activities for your home learning. Wiltshire Wellbeing Hub If you are struggling with any aspect of lockdown, please do not suffer in silence. The Wiltshire Local Authority has a wellbeing hub which can offer support with emotional and mental health issues, with practical things like deliveries, with financial matters, and with all sorts of other problems people may experience at this time. Thanks to staff

Sincere thanks go to the school staff who are working so hard supporting learners at home as well as those in school. We really appreciate it.

Julia’s House

The Christmas jumper day raised £143.50 for Julia’s House – the Dorset and Wiltshire Children’s’ Hospice and this money has been sent to them.

PFA on hold

The PFA activities are currently on hold. When school returns we will continue to make plans for fundraising, and fun events and activities which benefit your children at Holy Trinity
