Newsletter 14- 13th December 2013

Dear Parents

Last day of term is Friday 20th December. We all come back to school on Monday 6th January.

Christmas Plays Children should be dropped off at school for their evening performances (17th and 18th December) half an hour before the start ie. drop off at 4.30pm for children in the FS and KS1 and at 6.00pm for children in KS2. Please do not come any earlier than this.

Please pick up your children promptly at the end of their performances – 6.00pm for KS1 and 7.30pm for KS2. They (and their teachers) will be tired and will not want to wait around after the performances.  Because there will be significant traffic issues on those nights, if you can arrange for a lift club to reduce the number of cars outside the school, please do so.

Ms Sharman has very kindly offered to run the crèche again for children who will be waiting for younger or older siblings to finish their performances. The crèche will only be for children currently attending Holy Trinity and will be held in the Preschool building. Please note that only children who have signed up in advance will be accepted into the crèche. Please do not expect your children to be supervised if you have not signed them up for the crèche. There will be no adults on duty to look after them in the school.

Bed time story at school Children in Stonehenge will be coming back to school this evening in their pyjamas to have a story and some hot chocolate!  My thanks to Mrs Abbott and her staff who have given up their Friday evening so that the children can enjoy something a bit different at school. Children should be dropped off at 6.00pm and picked up at 7.15pm sharp.  We ask parents not to stay at school for this event – there are plenty of adults on duty to make sure the children have fun.

Events coming up this term (please do diarise these dates):

PFA Our very sincere thanks to all members of the PFA and to Annabel and Purdy in particular, who have worked so hard this term to make sure that our children have a wonderful time at school. They have paid for the Pantomime tickets for every child, arranged refreshments for the Handbells and Carol concert as well as for the Christmas plays, they have organised the Christmas party and have arranged for Santa to visit our school next Thursday with gifts, they have decorated the school beautifully, organised fundraisers and welcomed new people into our community. We are very grateful to everyone involved for this tremendous effort.

Christmas Party On Thursday 19th December, we are having our Christmas party in school. Whilst we are at the church having a service, members of the PFA will be making everything ready at school for a great banquet, and Mr Amor and Mr Gyllenspetz will organise party games after lunch. Children do not need to bring packed lunches into school on that day – there will be sandwiches, sausages, salad items, crisps, cheese, fruit and a host of other wonderful party food. Children can wear party clothes but they must be warm – they will be playing outdoors as usual. They need to wear sensible shoes – no party shoes! Please look out for the lists from the PFA on which you can offer to send some kind of food for the party.

Recorder Concert Our thanks to Mrs Jenkins and our wonderful recorder choirs! What great progress they have made this term. We are very proud of all the musicians at Holy Trinity.

Thanks to Dauntsey’s School We are very grateful to the drama department of Dauntsey’s school – they loan us their lights each year to enhance our Christmas productions. The special lights help to make the performances memorable for the children and improve the experience for the audience as well.

Holiday Club Sports Stars will be running the Holiday Club at our school in the February half term, from 17th February to 21st February. Then there will be a week in the Easter holiday, from 7th April to the 11th April, and in the summer holiday from 28th July to 1st August and a second week from 11th August to 15th August. Flyers will go out nearer the time to sign up.
