Newsletter 13 – 11th December 2015

Dear Parents

No Sharing Assembly Please note that there will be no sharing assembly on Friday 18th December (that is the last day of term and we have a children’s entertainer in for the afternoon). School day ends at the usual time.

Christmas Plays:

Key Stage 1 (Foundation stage, Year 1 and Year 2 children) on Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th December

  • To be dropped off at school at 4.30pm (not earlier) for a 5.00pm start, and picked up at 6.00pm. They will be helped to change into and out of their costumes at school.

Key Stage 2 (Year 3, Year 4, Year 5 and Year 6 children) on Tuesday 15th and Wednesday 16th December

  • To be dropped off at school at 6.15pm (not earlier) for a 6.30pm start, and picked up at 7.30pm

There is no supervision or crèche for children who are not taking part in the performances. Please be prompt to pick up so that children are not left unsupervised.

Please make sure that every person attending the concert, regardless of age, has a ticket. We are bound by fire safety regulations about how many people can be in the hall at any one time.

Thank you to our wonderful PFA who will be providing the refreshments, and to Dauntsey’s school who have provided us with stage lighting as they do every year.

Photography is permitted but please ensure that NO photos are posted online if there are any other children visible in the photo. Please be aware of those around you when taking photos – do not disturb anyone else.

Dates for Christmas activities Please check on the table below for the dates of our Christmas activities – do consider coming along to some or all of these. This is a very special time of year.

Hockey Tournament Our hockey team won the tournament against local schools on Saturday, at Dauntsey’s school! They played brilliantly and showed great sportsmanship. Our thanks to Mr Amor who organised and accompanied this trip. His team did him great credit.

Handbells Carol Concert and Community Singing We had a wonderful evening on Tuesday. Thank you very much to Mrs Heath who works so hard with our Handbell Club, and to the children who gave such a tremendous performance! What a joy it is to have handbells at Christmas! It was lovely to have so many people there, and the carol singing with Mrs Wilding was inspirational as well. Thank you to the PFA who provided the refreshments.

Year 3 Choir, Recorder Concert and Carol Service – Please come along to any or all of these!!

  • On Tuesday 15th December, the Year 3 choir will be performing a short concert at about 2.45pm.
  • On Wednesday 16th December at 10.45am, the Recorder concert will take place
  • On Thursday 17th December at 9.30am we will be at St Peter’s church in Great Cheverell, celebrating Christmas with a carol service, candles and singing.

Christmas Party Please note that the Christmas Party takes place on Thursday 17th December, after the Church Carol Service. Children are allowed to wear party clothes to school on this day, but please make sure that they can dress up warmly because they will still have to go outside for playtimes, and will be walking down to the church. They need to wear sensible shoes in which they can run and dance safely. My thanks to the PFA who arrange all the party food and the special visitor with his gifts, and to Mr Amor and Mr Gyllenspetz who arrange the party games. The children love this day, and although it is exhausting, it is great fun for everyone.

Primary School Applications for 2016-17 academic year must be submitted to the Local Authority by 15th January 2016! If your child will turn 5 during the course of the next academic year, it is important that you apply for a place by this deadline.
