Parents’ Class Welcome Meetings Thank you to all our families who sent a representative to these meetings – your outstanding engagement and interest in your child’s education helps us to ensure the very best possible provision. If you wish to discuss any aspect of your child’s attainment, progress or any other matter, please feel free to phone in or chat to your child’s teacher to make an appointment.
Residential Trip Meeting If you missed this meeting, please look on the website for Hooke Court, Dorset, and find out about the centre. Kit lists have already been sent home. Please make sure that you have completed the medical forms if your child needs to have prescription medication dispensed on the trip.
New children It is always tremendously exciting to welcome the youngest children to school for the first time. We will get to know them so well, and they will be beloved members of the school family for 7 years. They have come in very happily and settled quickly, understanding, and feeling secure, within the school protocols.
Eisteddfod Choir Eisteddfod Choir practice will begin on Monday 12th September (3-4pm) for those children who have replied to invitations to sing at the Devizes Eisteddfod this year. Any other confident singers in Years 4-6 who would like to come along to this practice on a trial basis and see what is involved in rehearsing for a competition would be very welcome. We were also delighted to have been invited to sing in the afternoon Festival Concert which this year takes place on Saturday, 26 November in the Devizes Town Hall Assembly Room at 3pm – a really great honour and a tribute to the talent and hard work of Ms Sharman, Mrs Edwards and our children.
New Rector Rev’d Andrew Sinclair is the new rector of the Bratton benefice, including Erlestoke and Coulston parishes which are part of our catchment area. We look forward to working with him to continue to promote the Christian values and ethos which are the foundations on which all our success is built. We also look forward to welcoming the new rector for the Lavington benefice in the near future.
Collective Worship We have collective worship every Monday to Thursday at 10.00am – you are most welcome to join us for this celebration of our school’s Christian values, for a moment of quiet time and reflection and for some great singing. Usually we have collective worship in the hall, sometimes outside in the grounds, sometimes quietly in the dark with candles, sometimes in the light with lots of laughter – all sorts of different things go on. It provides a lovely moment for children to focus on their own spiritual growth, regardless of their faith or non-faith position. It is a very important part of our school day.
Stonehenge trips Our very sincere thanks to all those who volunteered to come on these trips with us – especially those who so kindly came on more than one trip! We are hugely grateful. The trips were very successful and the children learnt a lot about Neolithic life and about how rich Wiltshire is in amazing ancient monuments and artefacts. We are so fortunate to live in such a beautiful and interesting place.
Wiltshire Life We are going to be interviewed for an article in the magazine Wiltshire Life, on rural schools in Wiltshire. Aside from the children whose parents have already refused permission for their children to be photographed, if there are any other families who would prefer that their child is not photographed for this, please let the office know. It seems likely that most of the photos will be taken of the Year 6 children. The interview is on Wednesday 14th September.
Collaboration On Tuesday next week, our school will be signing up to a formal collaboration with the neighbouring Church schools of Five Lanes (Marston and Worton), St Thomas a Beckett (Tilshead), St Barnabas (Market Lavington) and Urchfont primary schools. All our governors have considered joining Multi Academy Trusts and have decided that this would not be appropriate at this stage, but this collaboration which has been set up by and controlled by the schools themselves, will allow us to gain all the benefits of closer collaboration whilst retaining all our autonomy and funding. Holy Trinity is in an enviable and rather unique position of being a “Stand Alone” academy, allowing us to operate very independently. The other schools are Local Authority Church schools.
School Lunches Unfortunately, the Lataca website is still not functional. They assure me that it will be ready for use in the near future. In the meantime, please send your orders in to the school or to Lataca directly, in hard copy. Please remember to order meals a week in advance – you must order meals even if your child gets free dinners, including all those in Foundation Stage, Year 1 and Year 2.

Children’s Harvest Workshop… Come and have fun making different items to celebrate Harvest on Saturday 10th September from 10-12 noon in Erlestoke Church. Items will be put on display ready for the Harvest service on Sunday 19th September @ 6pm (after this service there will be a light supper and an auction of produce). Children from all parishes are welcome but children under five must be accompanied by a parent/guardian.
Hair Please ensure that children with long hair or hair that falls forward have their hair clipped back or tied back. It is difficult enough for children to focus from board to book without having to clear their eyes each time they do so.
It’s Panto time again (Oh yes it is!!) Sunday 18th September @ 3pm, The Pavilion, Great Cheverell. Please come along if you would like to get involved in any capacity in our next show stopping performances on 19th, 20th& 21st January 2017. Guaranteed fun, laughter and mayhem on the high seas with Pirates, Parrots and silver long Johns!!
Hope to see you there…
