Parents’ Class Meetings The teachers will be holding their annual familiarisation meetings in the week commencing 15th September – all parents are invited to attend the meeting for their child/ren’s class where the teacher will talk about classroom routines and expectations, homework, reward systems and various other matters and you will be given the opportunity to ask questions. We do encourage each family to send a representative to these meetings. Each meeting will be held in your child’s classroom. The dates and times for each class meetings are as follows:
Tuesday 13th September 2011 Sarum class 5.00pm
Silbury class 5.30pm
Wednesday 14th September 2011 Avebury class 5.30pm
White Horse class 6.00pm
Carnival Theme The whole school is using “Carnival” for the theme for learning this term. Many areas of learning will be explored, including music (through the Carnival of the Animals by Saint Saëns), history of carnival, the various countries and cultures which have carnivals around the world, the diversity of British society and the celebrations these cultures have, Design Technology where we make our own things for a school carnival, and many more carnival related learning experiences. We are planning a carnival procession on Tuesday 18th October to which parents are invited. More details of this will be published shortly.
Sharing Assembly Every Friday at 2.15, we meet as a school in the hall and each class has a few representatives who share some of the work they have done in class during the previous week. Parents are very welcome to attend – it lasts about half an hour and it is fun to see what is going on in all the classes in school. If you are able to attend, do come along, even if you only make it to one a term.
School led clubs Permission letters for clubs will be sent out shortly. School led clubs will start in the week commencing Monday 26th September. These are free to join as our teachers and other people run them as volunteers, and the letters will make it clear which age group can be admitted and which afternoon the club will run. There are also some fee paying clubs for which we will send out notices in due course.
Monday Club Unfortunately Monday club will not be running this year as a result of Rev.Graham Southgate leaving our area in October. We hope that we will be able to offer the club again in due course when a new incumbent is appointed.
Gardening Club will run this term from Monday 12th September up to and including Monday 10th October. We look forward to seeing the same children as last term at the club.
