Welcome back to our distance learning on Moodle! It is a joy to us that we can keep in touch with our families at this difficult time through our Moodle platform. Almost every family logs on regularly and takes part in the class activities. Please have a look at the “Whole School” page where there is a daily reflection and moment of quiet meditation, some examples of work shared and interesting websites that you might like to explore. It is fun to have virtual tours through museums, science establishments and historic places.
Please do not make learning at home a stressful or difficult experience for you or your child – it is enough if you can live through this complex time in a calm and contented manner. If your child is doing a little bit of reading, writing and maths each day – even if they do not come close to completing the suggested exercises – that is sufficient. If you can do more, that’s great, but staying well and happy is the top priority at this time. We do not expect children to be making progress through the national curriculum – we will take care of that when we return to school – we just want them to keep their skills honed and ready for use. It doesn’t matter where they are in their learning journey – they are in the right place!
Please encourage your child to be active each day and to have fun with creative activities – art, craft, den building, baking, sewing, drama, dressing up, singing, dancing, and anything else that sparks their interest. Do not feel that you have to control every activity – children thrive on being bored at first then finding their own way through to creativity. This is where really great learning happens.
Give yourselves a break! At the end of each day acknowledge that you did enough and be pleased with that.
Covid 19 Isolation The Government has not given us any hints about when or how we will return to school eventually, but it will not be in the very near future. As soon as we know anything more, we will make sure that we notify you. We must make sure that we continue to abide by the strict lockdown measures since it is clear from the evidence that they are working. Please make sure that you and your children stay at home except for one short spell of exercise and essential shopping. We cannot afford to take any chances at this stage in the pandemic.
Sharing Do send some of the great things that your child has done this week in to your child’s teacher – a selection of these will be posted on “Whole School” page on Moodle for everyone to enjoy.
Reminder Please make sure you are monitoring your child’s online activities to ensure that they are safe and that they are not causing harm to anyone else. There are warnings about the increase in incidents of children being “groomed” online as they are spending more time on their devices. Primary school children should never have a device in their bedrooms unsupervised.

Yoga with Konika Shankar Konnie is providing some free sessions of family yoga online, which is great fun… on Mondays and Wednesday 10-10.30 am. These are just short sessions that focus on energising and channelling into stillness – techniques to feel good, but also help with calming and focusing as well, and a fun activity for the whole family. They have a way to chat afterwards if you wish.

Konnie sets a theme for each week to help encourage some interaction… so if you would like to send her your email for the mailout each week regarding the themes etc please contact her at firstname.lastname@example.org.
There are general adult classes as well and she is asking for a donation of whatever you feel you can afford or you can pay the usual cost which is: £8 a session or £45 for 6 sessions. Email her for BACS details. These classes are Tuesday: 10-11.30 am or 6-7.30 pm or Thursdays 7.30-9 pm. She also has a free Chair yoga class for the less mobile and a teen yoga class as well in case you know of anyone who might be interested.
