Newsletter 14 – 21st December

Dear Parents

We wish all our families and the wider community a very blessed Christmas and a happy new year!

We shall see you all back at school on Monday 7th January, refreshed and ready for an exciting Spring term.

Christmas Performances We are so proud of our extraordinary children who gave us such wonderful performances in their Christmas plays! Their confidence and enjoyment, coupled with undoubted talent, made for great entertainment. We are very grateful to our staff who worked very hard to ensure that the productions were so successful and to you, our parents, for supporting us so strongly as you always do. The collection at the door raised £525 this year! What an achievement! Half of this will go to a charity/charities that the children will select in the New Year, and the other half will go towards improving and maintaining our art and drama provision. Thank you very much for your generosity.

Thanks to PFA Our thanks to our amazing PFA and our parents who provided a really wonderful Christmas party for the children – the hall was beautifully decorated and arranged and the food and drink was delicious. Thanks also for the refreshments provided by the PFA through the Christmas performances. We are very grateful to Lisa Downing and her team for their outstanding contribution to our school – their work really enriches our children’s experience.

Church service Thank you to Rev Andrew Sinclair and Steve Dewar who helped lead our Christmas service in the church. And thanks also to our children who told the story of Christmas and sang beautifully, and to the parents and grandparents who supported us at the service. It was a lovely, peaceful moment to pause in our busy day to reflect on some of the important aspects of this festive season.

Thanks to Dauntsey’s We would like to thank Dauntsey’s school for all their outreach, which helps to enrich our children’s experience. They always lend us stage lighting for our Christmas plays, their sports coaches support our PE provision and provide opportunities for interschool tournaments, and our Year 6 children have the chance to use the equipment in their Design Technology labs in the summer term.

Library Books We make a plea that you check your child’s book shelf over the holiday and return any books that belong in school (they will have a school stamp inside the front cover). We have lost entire series of the most popular books and would love to have them returned. No one will judge you if you bring armfuls of books back! How wonderful that your child wished to read to so much! However, we would be grateful to have them returned.

Swimming Sarum class There will be no swimming for Sarum class on Thursday 24th January as we have other exciting things happening on that afternoon – we will make up that session on Thursday 23rd May.

Lost Property We shall recycle the lost property over the Christmas holidays. So if you are missing anything that belongs to your child, please come in and go through the Lost Property basket before the holidays. The basket is full!

Primary School Applications Please remember to apply for a primary school place for your child if they will turn 5 between September 2019 and August 2020. You application must be with the Local Authority by 15th January 2019. We are likely to be oversubscribed so don’t miss this deadline if you want a place here at Holy Trinity. Even if you live locally, if you have not put in an application, you will have be considered under Late Admissions and then would be very unlikely to get a place here.

Coin Batteries Please remember that these are terribly dangerous for children who put them in their mouths or swallow them. Please make sure that no child has access to any coin battery – they can kill a child within hours of being swallowed.

Christingle Service Please join us for our Christingle Service at St Peters Church, Great Cheverell on Sunday 23rd December at 4pm.

All are welcome!

TEXTILE RECYCLING – MONDAY 7TH JANUARY

A Thank you & a problem with clothing/textiles getting wet.

We would like to thank everyone who gives us their recycling – this is a great little earner for the PFA and we are most grateful for this.

Our fantastic “Recycling Fairy” would like us to remind you that all textile recycling must be left in a SEALED PLASTIC BIN BAGS and if left in the blue lidded bins, please ensure that the lid closes properly.

If any of the textiles get wet this poses a problem since the recycling centre will not accept wet textiles.

As usual we will be collecting textiles such as clothing, shoes, bags, curtains, bedding but not cushions or duvets for recycling on the first Monday back. Please leave any bags of recycling in the covered area between the Art centre and school reception on the morning of Monday 7th January – thank you!

WE WISH YOU ALL A VERY MERRY CHRISTMAS & A HAPPY NEW YEAR!

Many thanks!
