Newsletter 22 – 24th February 2017

Dear Parents

Performances at Sharing Assembly As well as the usual class sharing of work, we will have the following performances at Sharing over the coming weeks:

  • On Friday 3rd March we will be having a little moment to say good bye and thank you to Mrs Wilding who has played the piano so faithfully for our children for so many years. She has taught the Foundation Stage children a little song which they will be performing at Sharing Assembly on this day.
  • On Friday 10th March, at Sharing Assembly (2.15pm), all the children in White Horse class, Sarum class and Avebury class will be performing a song from the Lion King.

Superchoir Sadly, we had too few children sign up to take part in the Superchoir so we shall not be participating this year. However, we hope to run our usual summer choir, with four or five rehearsals, to perform at the school music concert Tuesday 23rd May at 5.00pm. More information to follow.

Thank you to parents! We thank all our parents to participate in Wake and Shake each morning – it is lovely for the children to see the adults around them taking part, having fun and enjoying the morning dance routine. We have some great parent Wakers and Shakers which really energises the children! If you do not wish to join in, please stand at the back of the playground, so that children can see the Year 6 leaders and the participating adults more easily.

Pilgrimage Day On Thursday 15th June, we shall take all the children to Edington Priory Church for a Pilgrimage Day. At this event, there are several workshops set up at various stations in the church, each one run by a member of the congregation. The children, in their allocated groups, move around the workshops, spending about 15 minutes at each station, reflecting on some aspect of the theme. We end by walking up to Ralph’s Seat and having a picnic. Whether the children are Christians or not, these days provide a wonderful opportunity to explore aspects of their spiritual development and to consider their role in the community. The theme for this year is Pentecost. If you are interested in helping to run one of the workshops or to support a group of children, please let us know at the office, by email or calling in as soon as possible so that we can allocate groups and group leaders in good time.

Parent-Teacher meetings (Wednesday 15th & Thursday 16th March) Please note that the website for booking your appointment with your child’s teacher is now open and the appointments are filling up fast. Please access the website through https://holytrinityacademy.parentseveningsystem.co.uk

Each appointment is 10 minutes long and we aim to be very strict about keeping to these timings so that no parent is left waiting for too long. If you have more than one child in the school, you might want to book the slots reasonably close to each other. If you would like a longer conversation with your child’s teacher, please feel free to make another appointment at a different time to continue to discuss any issues you have.

Lost Property Once again, the lost property basket is entirely full. If your child has lost any item at school, please come in and check for it. It is really essential that every single item your child brings into school, including clothing, musical instruments, sports equipment etc is clearly labelled with your child’s name. Writing the name on the label with a ball point pen is better than nothing! Unclaimed lost property is recycled.

Holiday Club A reminder that our very popular holiday club will run from 10th April – 13th April during the Easter holidays. Book online at http://www.super-stars.org.uk/make-a-booking/ or via the telephone booking line, 0845 241 3682. Children always have a wonderful time at Holiday Club.

Pupil Premium Funding If you are claiming certain benefits, the school will receive £1320 for your child. This money will be used for various support programmes throughout the school for all children. Your child will also benefit directly as some of the funding will be used to subsidise or pay completely for school trips, music lessons and other additional school costs for your child. All of this work is done in the strictest confidence. Forms are available in the office.

Please do check and if you think you are eligible, complete the form so that we can process the claim for the funding. The benefits which attract the funding are:

  • Income support,
  • Income based Job Seekers Allowance,
  • Income related Employment and support Allowance,
  • Support under Part IV of the Immigration and Asylum act 1999 (NASS),
  • the guarantee element of State Pension Credit,
  • Child Tax Credit (you must NOT be entitled to Working Tax Credit and have an annual income as assessed by HM Revenue and Customs that does not exceed £16,190),
  • Working Tax Credit “Run On”.
