Dear Parents

Midsummer Night’s Dream Rehearsals for this amazing production are going well, children are embedding their understanding of their roles, and costumes and the backdrop are being prepared. Mrs Jones, Mrs Goddard, Mrs Trusler and the children are working very hard! Tickets for the performances have been sent home to families of children in Year 3 and Year 4. Each family has been given 2 tickets for each performance. If you do not need any of your tickets, please return them to the office and we shall redistribute them. If you want more tickets, write in and let us know and we shall try to fill as many requests as possible. This is the first time we have had a production in the summer term, and it promises to be an outstanding event! My thanks to parents who suggested this initiative in the Autumn Parental Canvassing.

French Concert Well done to all our children who performed so well in the French concert on Monday – and thanks to Mrs Twentyman who works so hard to ensure a great outcome for this event every year.

Silbury class restaurant Once again, this was a really remarkable event. The children in Silbury class prepared and served a selection of main meals and puddings to their parents in the hall. The theme was “Titanic” and the food was delicious, beautifully presented and perfectly served. Our thanks to the parents who came along, especially to those who entered into the theme by dressing up! And thanks also to Mr Amor and Mrs Heath who worked very hard with the children to ensure that, on the day, they were able to manage everything independently and efficiently. We do have the best children in the world!

Author Visit We were delighted to have a children’s author visit us on Wednesday, to conduct workshops with each group. As well as learning about the creative aspects of writing, the children also found out how much self-discipline is required to become a successful author.

NSPCC visit During the presentations from the NSPCC, the children found out more about staying safe and feeling confident to talk to a trusted adult about any concerns they may have. The presentations were sensitively delivered by professionals who have been to most schools in Wiltshire.

Silbury Class Orchestra Under the baton of Ms Sharman, our children in Silbury Class are working on a beautiful rendition of “My Heart Will Go On” from “Titanic”. They will be playing this at the Leavers’ Assembly on Wednesday 20th July, but will also perform at Sharing Assembly on Friday 15th July.

Leavers’ Trip to the Cathedral Please make sure that all Year 6 children bring a packed lunch to school on Wednesday 6th July as they will be going to the Cathedral to join many hundreds of other Year 6 children from across the Diocese for a morning of craft/drama activities and then a Leavers’ service in the afternoon.

Mosque Trip Thank you to all who have offered to accompany this trip. We are overwhelmed with offers and we will be contacting everyone who has offered to come to let them know whether we will need them or not.

Sports Day We will have our annual sports day on Wednesday 13th July, starting at about 9.15. The sports themselves are finished by about 12.00pm and all parents are invited to bring along a picnic lunch and share this with their child on the school field. The bell will ring at 1.00pm as usual and the children will return to their classrooms for afternoon school.

Sports day is a hotly contested competition in our school – as part of our aspirational values, we expect children to try to win and to accept both victory and defeat graciously. In addition to the points won on sports day itself, we add in points accumulated for each team through the course of the year for other events such as the swimming galas, pancake races, class sports events and many others. So, as well as a sports day winning team, there will be an overall winner for the year, as well as winners for the different phases of the school.

School Eucharist On Thursday 14th July at 2.00pm, The Right Reverend Dr Edward Condry, Bishop of Ramsbury, will be coming to our school to celebrate the annual school Eucharist. You are all most welcome to attend this lovely event. The children participate in the singing, the dancing, readings and prayers, and it is always a moving and reflective experience.

Reports Your child’s written report will be available to download from the Parent Portal on Friday 8th July. If you need a hard copy, please contact the school. If you are not sure how to access the Parent Portal, or have forgotten your password, please email us and we will help you.

Lost Property We recycle all lost property over the summer so if you are missing some part of your child’s uniform, please come and check whether it is in the overflowing Lost Property basket in the Music Room.
