Pilgrimage Day collaboration with other schools On Thursday we had a wonderful Pilgrimage Day with some children from our school going to Woodford Valley Primary and Holy Trinity in Calne, and children from those schools coming to us. We took part in activities centred on the theme of Pentecost and the Holy Spirit and ended with a walk to the local church, carrying the banners we had made. Some of the other items we made are now hanging on the willow structure on the field – do go up and have a look!
The theme of the Holy Spirit and the fun of enjoying our beautiful world was manifest during this day. It was lovely to see how beautifully our children welcomed the visitors, took care of them and made sure they had a good time here. And it was also very interesting to hear the experiences of those children who had gone off site. It is important for all schools, especially church schools, to be outward looking, welcoming and loving, and this initiative gave us the opportunity to be just that.
Handbells If your child is performing with the hand bells group at Edington Fair on Saturday 6th June, please ensure that they meet Mrs Heath at the fair at 2pm ready to perform. It would be lovely if lots of people came to support our hand bell players. My thanks go to Mrs Heath for giving up her Saturday afternoon to run this concert.
Transition work The children who will be transferring to Lavington school in September have had the chance to meet Daniela De Cet, the deputy head. She has spent some time chatting to the children and reassuring them about any concerns or worries they may have, and has had a meeting with Mr Amor so that he could hand over important information about each child.
Next week, Miss Nisbeck will meet with the Headteacher of Old School Nursery for the handover work to continue, and the children who will start with us in September will have the chance to come to our school for a few induction afternoons. Miss Nisbeck has also visited or contacted all the other nursery schools who are feeding children into our school.

Dauntsey’s school We are very fortunate to be part of the outreach provided by Dauntsey’s school to local primaries. As well as weekly sports coaching sessions for Silbury class, Dauntsey’s also provides our Year 6 children with the opportunity to do some great design work in their design and technology suite. Our children will go to Dauntsey’s next week on Tuesday to take part in this initiative. We also borrow our stage lighting from Dauntsey’s and they are very generous about allowing us to use their minibuses whenever we need them. We are very grateful for the extra opportunities for enrichment provided by this outreach.
