New Teachers for Sarum Classroom I am delighted to let you know that the new teachers in Sarum class are Mrs Claire Goddard (for 3 days a week) and Mrs Dominy Jones (for 2 days a week). They are talented and creative teachers and we are very fortunate to be able to appoint people of such high calibre. They will be doing some days in school during the summer term to familiarise themselves with our routines and will start their permanent roles in September.
MDSAs We are sad to say good bye to Mrs Gyllenspetz who is leaving our MDSA team to go to full time work, but delighted to welcome Mrs Brown and Ms Clarke to the team.
Superchoir Rehearsal for Superchoir takes place next Monday 11th May after school. Summer concert choir starts on Monday 18th May.
PE Report Mr Amor has published the school PE report (sent out with this letter) and it is very interesting to see how many children take part in sport outside of school lessons. The PE funding has really supported us in our work to ensure that everyone enjoys keeping fit through some sporting activity. My thanks go to him for his strong leadership of this initiative.
Stonehenge class The children of Stonehenge class had a wonderful trip to Longleat last week. They saw lions, sea lions, some cold gorillas and many other wonderful animals. My thanks go to all who helped with this trip and to Miss Nisbeck and her team who organised everything so well.
Wookey Hole Trip Sarum class went to Wookey Hole caves this week as well – and what an exciting trip this was! My thanks go to the volunteers who accompanied the trip and to Mrs Twentyman and her team for arranging this great experience.
Quilt making Please let us know if you can help with this project! We have two people involved already but the more we have the easier the work will be.
SATS and other tests All KS2 children will be writing assessments this coming week. They are nothing to worry about and no preparation needs to be done at home.
Class Splits At this time of year, some parents may start to feel anxious about which classroom their child will be in next year. We ask you to trust us to make the very best decision for your child – every child is important and we will make sure that we do the very best for each one. Our analyses show that children do equally well in all classrooms – they are tested on the same tests at the end of the year, and statistics show that their progress and achievement meet or exceed the targets equally well in all classrooms in our school.
Please do not put pressure on your child to try to achieve some goal of being in a specific classroom. This leads to anxiety and a sense of having “let you down” if they do not achieve the goal. Decisions about class splits are made on the basis of the child’s academic achievement through the year and the number of children in each year group and classroom. Children are taught at the edge of their learning regardless of which classroom they are in.
Swimming lessons Slibury class swimming lessons start on Thursday 14th May – please make sure your child brings in their swimming kit! We also ask for a voluntary donation to support the coach fare and hire of the pool of £16.50 for the 5 sessions.
Dauntsey’s School The students at Dauntsey’s school have been running a mock election and it has been brought to our attention that, of the 8 candidates standing for election, 3 were past pupils of Holy Trinity! We are very proud of all our past pupils and it is a source of great delight to us that they continue to do so well in their secondary careers, whichever school they attend.
20mph limit I have been asked to remind everyone that there is a 20 mph limit through Great Cheverell village – this is to help to keep our children safe and we do ask that you keep it in mind as you drive through.
Friday Fun Tuck Shop Every Friday at the Pavilion from 3-4pm, drinks and snacks will be served raising funds for the school PFA and the Pavilion. Please ensure that an adult accompanies your child/ren. We look forward to seeing you there.

The PFA are beginning to gear up for the summer fayre on Friday 19th June and we are starting our plea for donations of bottles, teddys and ”U” and “PG” rated DVDs and games. Please leave them in reception. Thank you!
We also wanted to offer parents /guardians the opportunity to run an independent stall at the fayre as they were such a success at Christmas. This would be in return for a £5 “pitch fee” and a raffle prize donation. If you are interested please email email@example.com.
We always need helpers on the big summer fayre day and if you could offer support (big or small) please could you complete and return the slip below to reception.
