Dear Parents

Our very sincere condolences go to Sally and Alice Matthews on the death of Steve. Our thoughts are with them at this very difficult time.

Gardening Club  This club will start once again on Monday 28th April after school. My thanks to Mrs Read who has very kindly agreed to take up the role of leader of Gardening club. My thanks also to Ms Bates who has worked hard setting up and leading Gardening club for 6 years – we are tremendously grateful for all her work on this and the grounds are beautiful because of her work. We are very fortunate that we have Mrs Gibbons, Ms Clarke, Ms Franklin and Mrs Newmark who give so much of their time each week to gardening club – my thanks to them as well.

Clay Modelling Club Everyone who signed up to Clay Modelling club has been given a place – please find a slip of paper in your child’s bag notifying you of this and asking for the payment. This club will commence on Monday 28th April from 3pm until 4pm.

School Choir There are a few places left in the choir which starts on Monday 28th April. If your child would like to join, please complete the slip at the bottom of this letter and send in the fee of £12. The choir practices will take place on Mondays after school from 3.00pm – 4.00pm. There will be 8 practices, from Monday April 28th to Monday 7th July (discounting holidays and TD days).  The choir will be singing pop songs old and new, blues, swing and traditional songs from England and Ireland.  They will perform at the school music concert on Thursday 10th July.

Holidays and holiday clubs  There is a bank holiday on Monday 5th May. The half term break starts on Monday 26th May. Please note that there are two TD days at the end of this half term break – both Monday 2nd June and Tuesday 3rd June are TD days so children will only return to school on Wednesday 4th June.

The last day of term is Wednesday 23rd July, since the 24th July is another TD day. Sports Stars Holiday club will run from 28th July to 1st August and a second week from 11th August to 15th August. In addition, for the first time this year, we are hoping to offer a third week of holiday club but it will be a music workshop club rather than a sports club. Further details will follow.

PFA My thanks to the PFA who have organised the Boden sale once again – this is a very successful fundraiser and is great fun as well. If you plan to place an order at www.boden.co.uk in the next couple of weeks, you can use the discount code Y882 which gives you 22% discount, along with free postage and  and commission will go to Holy Trinity PFA.

Parking Thank you to parents who have put themselves out to ensure that parking around the school is safe for our children.  We are all too aware of the limited space for parking and the inconvenience this causes for our families. We are not able to offer staggered pick up times because of the bus which has to leave as promptly as possible at 3.00pm. In any event, so many families have children in both phases of the school that this would be unlikely to help the situation much. There is no possibility of building any significant quantity of new parking without impacting on the outcomes of the school and the pavilion from both a financial and a practical point of view. The very best options are firstly to consider a lift club with someone who lives near to you; secondly, if there is no parking outside the school, consider parking outside the pub or along the High street or in Garston and walking up to the school along Green Lane. It is no more than a 5 or 10 minute walk, and it gives you the opportunity to enjoy our beautiful village and countryside, and chat to your child about their day at school. Even in the rain, it is possible to do the walk with an umbrella as the path is well maintained.

Some parents have considered hiring a minibus to take their children to and from school – whilst the school could not get involved with organising and managing this, if there is a call for a service like this, a group of parents might like to set up such a system, ensuring that insurance and other matters around employment of drivers etc are correctly managed. The school bus is only for the use of children in our designated area – the Cheverells, Erlestoke and Coulston.

Please do not park in Chitham Close (where the staff parking entrance is) – this is illegal and parking fines will be issued to people who park in this area.  Our neighbours are understandably upset when they are held up by cars blocking them in or out of their parking places.

Best wishes

Mercedes Henning
